Last week, Chris Bishop and Dustin Lyles, along with their sponsor Martha Giddens, attended the Texas State Health Occupations Students of America’s Leadership conference in Houston, Texas. They both were competitors in the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Issues Exam after winning at the area competition in February hosted by Richardson ISD.
Chris’s performance on the test was outstanding and earned the right to compete in Orlando, Florida at the National Convention this June. In addition to competition, he will be able to attend a leadership academy that will enable him to transition easier into college and the world of work.
Congratulations to Chris for being the first student from Hughes Springs ISD to attend competition at this level in HOSA. When you see him, please offer him a congratulations and good luck!
Chris has been a pleasure to teach through Health Science Technology. I am very proud of his accomplishment - especially in this particular contest. Traditionally, it is one of the hardest to advance in of the 52 contests to choose from in HOSA. I have no doubt that his abilities will allow him to transition into a positive and productive citizen.
